Now before you get all up in arms, let me clarify: I’m not saying you shouldn’t charge your worth. You SHOULD I’m also not saying you should be the cheapest. You SHOULDNT What I AM saying is that there’s such a thing as “market value” and if you’re priced significantly over market value you are going to end up losing good clients. It feels like lots of folks in this industry are telling everyone that there is ONE price range you should be charging, and the fact of the matter is that’s absolutely not true. Every market is different. It’s why I can’t charge the same prices as a balloon stylist in Los Angeles, and why someone in Boise, ID likely can’t charge what I do. And with new balloon stylists coming onto the scene every single day, many of them with LOADS of talent, this concept of “I’m the best so you should be glad to pay 50% more with me” is simply no longer sustainable.
