Today in Montgomery, Alabama, I was honored by The Graetz Foundation and Alabama State University for my work as a journalist to advance civil rights and reconciliation. Bob Gratez was a white pastor and friend to MLK Jr., who was instrumental in the Montgomery Bus Boycotts. My keynote message to the generations in the crowd was simple: everyone needs an ally. The Chicano struggle is the Black struggle and together we can move the world forward. From Northeast LA to Atlanta, I have seen it happen.
