💫 Have you ever wanted to go to space? 🪐
It’s on my mind because of yesterday’s Blue Origin event where an all-woman crew of 6 went to the Kármán Line. That’s 100 kilometers (62 miles) above Earth’s surface where we delineate that Earth’s atmosphere ends and Outer Space begins.
Like any kid with an overabundance of curiosity, I can’t help but look up at the stars and dream about what’s up there. I love attempting astrophotography and staring at the parts of the Milky Way that I’m lucky to get in my images. But I was never good at math or science. And as my mother recently reminded me, we were watching the Challenger LIVE from a diner in Concord, NH when it exploded killing Christa McAuliffe and the others onboard. The shock of that moment stayed with me at a cellular level and has tempered my curiosity with a healthy amount of respectful fear. It’s given me a special reverence for women who attempt Space, for the danger and the mystery of that great unknown. I get the pull. And I ...
