They pick a spot to land on based on the shape of the green and the flag position. A perfect example of this is hole 2 at Augusta Based on a player’s margin for error, aiming straight at the flag brings in the right side which is a trickly up and down. Aiming at the middle of the green gives players the biggest margin for error, letting the slope funnel the ball towards the hole. The secret?
