After a glittering night at the 25th anniversary of the Laureus World Sports Awards, co-hosted by CNN Sports’ amandadcnn, Simone Biles can add four-time Laureus Sportswoman of the Year to her resume. The most decorated gymnast of all time joins tennis legend Serena Williams as the only athletes to win the award four times. Biles called the 2024 Olympics her “redemption tour” after dealing with the “twisties” at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics and taking a step back from the sport.
“I’ve been dreaming of moments like this since I was a foster kid, so I have to say thank you to my parents for adopting me and my sister. To any foster kids – or kids in general – out there… go get ‘em, you got it. Never give up,” the record-breaking American shared while accepting her award.
