Meet Mia Scharpf, a junior majoring in Journalism and Strategic Communications at the University of Missouri Columbia.
Originally from Illinois, Scharpf was inspired by her grandfather – a West Point graduate – to become an Army officer.
“I admired the values he gained as an officer – values he passed down to my father and his siblings. Both of my parents worked to instill those same principles of duty, honor, and country in my sister and me. It was these guiding values that inspired me to join Army ROTC.”
Her peers within the Tiger Battalion have been a driving force for pushing Scharpf to dedicate herself toward an Army career path.
“As I progressed through the Tiger Battalion program, I learned that great leadership extends beyond ROTC and can positively influence the entire college experience of cadets. It was this realization-that I could have a positive impact on those around me through proper leaders...
