If you slide on the backswing and play great golf… keep it up!
If you slide on the backswing and you’d like to trade that for more turn, do the following:
🔹 Focus on the movement of the trail glute
🔹 Try getting that glute to move slightly toward the target in the backswing (you’re turning and your pelvis is an oval, so this can happen without moving ⬅️ toward the target)
🔹 Make sure your sternum doesn’t slide in front of the ball as you do it
I will say, I see different pelvic movements work for different players. Generally, players with better sequences may shift their pressure more aggressively in the backswing and as a result we see more lateral slide of the pelvis (usually very early in the backswing, think Rory) followed by a recentering move.
Players with sequences that are less efficient and players that may have limited mobility MIGHT be better off just making sure that pelvis doesn’t slide away from the target at all.
