Yep, a year later they were still plenty mad. Iona Prep is clearly not over the disappointment of a humbling upset loss to Stepinac in the CHSAA AA title game last season. The Gaels attacked this time with intensity and efficiency, posting a win on Saturday, April 26, at Mara Field. The Crusaders were feisty at the start and took an early lead but were soon on the wrong end of a seven-goal run. Another playoff meeting is likely in the weeks ahead. “That loss was the worst day of my life,” Iona Prep attackman Tim Plunkett said of the championship game setback. “I think about it every morning. I’m reminded every day by my family and my coach when we show up here. Winning this game, it’s nice, but we have an hour to celebrate and then everything is off the slate. They’re going to be a new team if we see them again so we’ll kind of put it under the bed. It’s a good win but we’ve got more ahead of us.” 🔗: See more photos and a video, as well as how other teams did, at our link in bio....
