No surprise to anyone, the
#49ers decided to invest heavily in fortifying their defense in this years draft. In 2024, their defense ranked 29th in PPG allowed, and were particularly vulnerable in the run game. Strength in the run game is one of the most important things that helped them make multiple Super Bowl appearances, and now they take one of the best run defending edge rushers in this years class in Mykel Williams. Taking from Georgia’s front 7 has proven to be wise, as seen by the Philadelphia Eagles. Kirby Smart coached his defensive linemen well, and the 49ers land a smart player who can pass rush at a high level as well as fitting his gap in the run.
