Swipe to bake my basket full of deliciousness! This strawberry & rhubarb pie was so much fun to create. Don’t let that fool you though. Weaving an edible basket is no easy task. 🤣 I had this idea of a basket overflowing with flowers and I had to make it happen! At first I was going to do pie crust flowers, but thought why not use the gorgeous ones growing in the garden for a textural variation! The leaves and little fungi are hand cut and painted! I removed the flowers before baking (because I HAD to have that unbaked pic) and then added them back once the pie had fully cooled!
Now, I KNOW I’ll have lots of comments on the Muscari - they are NOT hyacinths despite their common name. They are considered safe to use in and around food as long as they are organically grown.
There is no official recipe for this pie. I used frozen rhubarb and strawberry pie filling from my local Amish! I thawed the rhubarb and combined it with the strawberry until I got desired liquid to solid consistency....
