TEACHING TECH: Tech theatre showcased some stage techniques on the outdoor stage during lunch on Tuesday as part of Fine Arts Week. To demonstrate to students about the skills that tech theatre majors learn in class, junior Zwi Meza and sophomore Ian Okeefe taught student volunteers how to tie types of knots used backstage.
“We learned how to do knot tying in class,” Meza said. “It’s usually useful for scenic, for moving things around and lifting them.”
Meza, a tech theatre major, appreciates all the program has given her these past three years.
“I mostly like the people,” Meza said. “It’s a really fun after-school activity. You get to do creative things and be part of a team.”
The program has taught Meza a lot about tech theatre and what happens during theatre productions behind the scenes.
