Unless you're fortunate to have a lights-out pitcher, there probably is no sport less predictable than baseball.
Just ask fans of the 2004 New York Yankees.
And so it was last week that what was expected didn't always happen.
Like a close game between ranked Yorktown and Mahopac. Mahopac had edged the Huskers 1-0 earlier in the season. Game two turned out to be another shutout ā a 10-0, mercy-rule-shortened win for Yorktown.
And, so, rankings have shifted, although, in more cases than not, teams expected to win, did.
That said, for the first time this season, the rankings include no undefeated teams. And that is a bit of a surprise. (Photo: Yorktown's Alex Ornstein (5) slides under a tag by Mahopac's Vince Cataldo (10) at second base during their 10-0 win over Mahopac on Friday, May 2.)
