Through Pittsburgh Studio—a partnership between the Stuckeman School and the Franco Harris Pittsburgh Center—Penn State landscape architecture students are turning ideas into action in Pittsburgh's Hilltop neighborhoods. They worked directly with city planners, nonprofits, and Hilltop residents to tackle real-world challenges like urban vacancy, accessibility, and green space development. 🏙️🌿 The students developed thoughtful 10-year plans featuring new transit options, event spaces, bike paths, and more by connecting with residents, walking the neighborhoods, and genuinely listening to community needs. Their work is helping to build a stronger, more connected future for Hilltop — while giving students firsthand insight into how meaningful design begins with the people it serves and inspiring them to become future planners and designers ready to drive change at the community level and beyond.
