Did you know that 13 January is the inofficial ‘deadline’ for throwing away your Christmas tree in Sweden?🌲 We call it Tjugondag Knut – Saint Knut’s Day – and it falls 20 days after Christmas Eve. Be gone, Christmas trees and decorations! 📦 Across Sweden, many cities and energy companies collect people’s Christmas trees and recycle them into district heating, giving the trees a sustainable second life. The day is named after a medieval Danish prince 🤴 who died around Epiphany (also called Twelfth Day), linking the two events by chance. When Sweden extended the Christmas season in the late 17th century, Knut’s name was carried over, and Tjugondag Knut became known as the last day of Christmas. How long do you keep your Christmas tree? 🎄 Music: Season Of Merry - Global Genuis / Meta Sound Collection #sweden #christmastree #recycling #sustainability
