Well, the early version of todayβs hanger, the wire hanger, is believed to have been invented by American Albert Parkhouse in the 19th century. However, it was Johan Pettersson, a third-generation nail maker and wire drawer in Sweden, who crafted the coat hanger hook in the 1920s. π οΈ
Johan attached a bent nail to a stick and ta-da β the coat hanger hook was born! π‘ Pettersson's family business, Pettersson's Ironworks, was founded in Hillerstorp in south Sweden. They continued their business until 2008.
