Growing up, my dad was the points and rewards guy. Every purchase had a strategy - it was important to use the 'right' credit card in order to maximize benefits.
Fast forward to this week: I’m booking a trip on American Airlines, an airline I don’t usually fly. So, like a well-trained traveler (and daughter), I check to see if I have an AAdvantage account. I try to reset my password… no dice. Guess I didn't have one. NBD, I book the flight and move on.
Later, I tell my dad my travel dates. His immediate response?
“Thanks. Do you have an American Airlines Advantage account?”
So, I go back to create one, and AA tells me I already have an account. Confused, I call customer service. As it turns out, I do have an account, it just doesn’t have my email, phone number, or address on file. Why? Because I became a member in November of 1996... when I was six years old. 🤯
