It’s not as glamorous as you think…
- As a freelancer, not knowing when your next job is coming can be so stressful. Being in a constant battle of picking up extra work to pay bills can be so taxing.
- Net 30s, 45s, even 90s. This was a huge shock to me when I first started. Picking up a job only to wait 3 months for your payment is the worst when you’re in a pinch.
- Success only happens if someone believes in your work. You can have the best portfolio, but all of your opportunities are in the hands of strangers. It’s a constant struggle of meeting people and sending emails, just hoping that an opportunity will find you.
- Consistent growth is hard. The industry fluctuates so much, and there’s such a high turnover rate. You could have a super successful year, and the next could be an absolute drought.
- You have to get used to rejection. I send so many emails and get excited thinking “this is it- this is how I land that dream job”, only to not get a response at all.
We’re all so...
