For Fightin’ Texas Aggie Craig Forrester ’94, one pair of senior boots held generations of meaning. First worn by his uncle, Captain Ronald W. Forrester ’69, during his time as a senior in Texas A&M University’s Corps of Cadets, the boots became a powerful symbol of leadership, sacrifice and the Aggie Spirit. Captain Forrester went on to serve as a Marine Corps bombardier navigator and was declared missing in action during the Vietnam War in 1972. More than 20 years later, Craig honored his uncle’s legacy in a deeply personal way — by painstakingly restoring the boots and wearing them during Final Review, one of the Corps’ most time-honored traditions.
This year, that tribute extends to the track. As part of Texas A&M University’s partnership with the Haas Factory Team in NASCAR, Captain Forrester’s name rides on the No. 41 car in the Coca-Cola 600 — a Memorial Day weekend tradition that remembers the fallen.
