In the past year, Norwegian women’s football has made real strides in promoting women’s health, rights, and better conditions for players who wish to become mothers. Vålerenga led the way, followed by Rosenborg. Through NISO_Sport’s negotiations for a new collective agreement, rights for pregnancy and postnatal follow-up were established. And now, the rest of the league is following suit. #FIFPRO welcomes this protection, which we’ve been advocating for since 2020. Contract extensions for pregnant players are fundamental, especially in women’s football, where contracts often only last a year.
