Players in South America stood united against racism, discrimination, and violence ahead of yesterday’s Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana matches.
Players stood at the centre circle for 20 seconds in a public show of solidarity, followed by a whistle, marking the beginning of a firm and clear message: football must be a space free of hate and violence.
The display comes just days after it was announced that
#FIFPRO President Sergio Marchi would lead a new CONMEBOL task force to tackle these issues alongside Brazil legend Ronaldo and former FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura.
#FIFPRO commends the players for their commitment to driving change and will continue working with partners to ensure the safety and protection of all players remains a top priority.
