Kelvin Yuen waited months to take this picture. This is not the black sand beach of Iceland, nor the Giant’s Causeway of Northern Ireland—this is an uninhabited island in the South China Sea. Since last year, he has been closely monitoring the weather conditions around the South China Sea. Months have passed without the right opportunity—until the night before, when the forecast finally predicted calm winds and gentle waves. Without hesitation, he flew to the location, contacted local fishermen to arrange a boat, and seized this window of opportunity. After completing the shoot, he returned to Hong Kong the same day.
