Swipe or tap for the 4 Keys in helping a DHH child advocate for themselves...
What a blessing it is that we we get to go on this journey with our DHH patients and children.⭐
⭐We get to know them so well which really helps us take regular everyday situations and play it out.
⭐It is SO important for patients and children to advocate for themselves.
⭐We are not always physically there for them, they will not always have access to an audiologist or mentor, and it will truly do wonders for their confidence once they learn how to be their biggest advocate.
So here are the 4 big keys in helping them do that:
1- Give them LANGUAGE
✔️Vocabulary and/or signs around their disability.
✔️Use the proper terms so that anyone they communicate with about their needs will understand.
2- Give them
RESPECT & CONFIDENCE
✔️They have something you don’t have. Everyone experiences life differently than you do, and they have their own set of variables that are different from yours.
✔️Let them take own...
