Kemala is celebrating her 18th birthday today šŸ…šŸ§” Known affectionately by her Wildlife Care team as a spicy old lady full of sass, Kemala has a bold personality and little interest in winning hearts—instead, her team aims for mutual tolerance rather than affection. Despite her fiery demeanor, she is bright, energetic, and quick to pick up on training behaviours. In fact, she often begins training sessions by confidently offering her preferred behaviours—like the ā€œlean-inā€ and ā€œfeetā€ā€”before her Keepers even ask. As she enters her golden years, staff have been working on A to B training in her new habitat to encourage her to move around, stay active, and make full use of her space. Kemala is trained for medical procedures like voluntary injection, blood draw, open mouth, paw present, stethoscope, and blood pressure. This allows us to monitor her health closely as she ages.
