When commencement speaker, award winning actress Sheryl Lee Ralph thesherylleeralph , heard they are about $1,000 short, during her speech, she pledged to give them the rest of the money. This led to NSU President, Dr. Javaune Adams- Gatson, giving another $1,000, which sparked other alum, faculty and organizations to the same.
