Children who grow up witnessing abuse don’t just suffer in the moment—it impacts how they navigate the world. This can be even more heightened when children are struggling with autism, asthma, neurological issues, cancer, and more.
In our community, there’s little awareness, little understanding—and almost no resources to support these children.
We recently took in a mother with her four kids who have been diagnosed with autism. They’ve seen their father abuse their mother was also abused by the father - now, they’re struggling and unable to feel at ease even in a place meant to protect them. We’re working on giving them the care they need to feel more comfortable and stable.
But this shouldn’t be the only option. Our community needs to do better. We need spaces that can truly support survivors and their children. Help us create that space at the Asiyah Center.
