One of the TOP moments of my life. 🥹 We knew there were caves lining the rocky coast of Rota (which is a tiny island part of the Northern Mariana Islands within the Micronesia region…). We even suspected a cave like this — with a chamber of glowing light rays — was somewhere on the island, hiding beneath the crashing waves. But we didn’t know we’d actually be able to find it, since even the locals couldn’t give us directions, nor were these caves marked on any maps. 😬 From outside the cave, I was bobbing on the surface of the water, with the open ocean to one side & a towering black cliff to the other. All I could see beneath me was darkness. It was only after diving several meters underwater, that I could finally make out the black outline of the cave’s mouth. And then to keep swimming through it… Talk about a leap (or dive) of faith. 😅 Nothing could have prepared me for finding THIS on the other side. I spent so long diving here that I got blisters on my ankles (worth it) ...
