Today, I #WearOrange on Gun Violence Awareness Day in honor of Hadiya Pendleton and all those impacted by gun violence. Hadiya was shot and killed in Chicago just one week after performing in President Obama’s second inauguration. After her tragic death, Hadiya’s family and friends honored her life by wearing orange, because this crisis refuses to be overlooked. I know that a safer future is possible, and that together we will end this epidemic in honor of Hadiya and every victim and survivor of gun violence.
