I think about this moment often — in the visitors locker room at Rupp Arena. I met ballin4memo during the final month of his college basketball career, right when I started at Vandy last February. We didn’t have much time together, but we bonded quickly over our shared faith. He was a light to his teammates, and his faith in Jesus fueled everything he did — on and off the court. It wasn’t uncommon to hear gospel music echoing through the halls of Memorial Gymnasium when Ezra was on aux. (In this clip, he was singing Build My Life by Tribl before our game against Kentucky.) One of the most meaningful parts of this job is the relationships you build and the quiet, intimate moments you get to witness. I’m grateful I got to share a short time here with Ezra. He’s now playing professionally in Germany for mhp_riesen — keep shining your light, Ezra!
