The top-seeded Hastings Yellow Jackets did something that no other softball team in its program's history ever did before Saturday, May 31. In beating second-seeded Dobbs Ferry, Hastings won its first ever Section 1 Class B championship at the Town of Haverstraw Sports Complex. "The postseason, we knew it was a new record," Hastings second baseman Kylie Vulpone said. "We knew that this is what everything was leading to. We had 6 a.m. workouts from the end of December. We worked our butts off for this. We knew from the beginning, this was possible. Even through the lows, we never stopped." "No one wanted it as badly as us," Yellow Jackets right fielder/pitcher Hazel Sabella added.
