Meet my immigrant family! My mother, aunt, grandmother and grandfather came to this country from Jamaica in 1988. The road to naturalization is both an extensive and expensive process, and not always immediately possible for some families, but thankfully through it it mine was able to call America their new home; and have continued to for over 30 years. Immigrants are not boogiemen who’ve come to destroy the American way of life. This country is a more culturally rich and vibrant place BECAUSE of its immigrant populations. We should be embracing immigrants and all that they bring to the table. They are our neighbors, our teachers, our doctors, our farmers, our friends, but first and foremost they are PEOPLE. People who work hard and have FAMILIES and America’s continued mistreatment of these people is absolutely disgusting. People living in fear of being arbitrarily picked off the street, families being ripped apart and put into CAGES all in a country that claims here is where you have...
