According to a new study by Dynamic Planet and natgeopristineseas, the world needs to create 190,000 new small marine protected areas (ideally no-take areas) nearshore to get to 30% of the territorial seas alone. That would restore marine life, replenish small-scale fisheries, improve the livelihoods of millions of people who depend on a healthy ocean for their livelihoods, and foster climate resilience.
