With sunshine glistening off every surface that Donington has to offer and thousands upon thousands of patrons soaking it all in, the band’s bright and breezy brand of emo genius is truly the cherry on top in terms of vibe curation. That’s even more prominent when the songs they have chosen to showcase on the Apex Stage today are some of their finest.
‘Surf Wax America’ and ‘Island In The Sun’ are like audio Vitamin D, whilst ‘My Name Is Jonas’ and ‘Undone - The Sweater Song’ feel as fresh as the day they were released three decades ago. It’s all delivered with a carefree and considered attitude, one that becomes second nature when you have been performing at this level for as long as these gents have. And the response is one of youthful ecstasy, the years rolling back beautifully.
