The Trump administration's recent plans to "aggressively revoke" certain Chinese international students' visas could affect hundreds studying at Iowa's colleges and universities. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced May 28 that the United States will revoke visas for Chinese international students, “including those with connections to the Chinese Communist Party or studying in critical fields.” Before the Trump administration zeroed in on Chinese international students, it also ordered a pause on international student visa interviews to review and expand the country's social media screening. Several of Iowa's international students have already experienced visa revocations in recent months.
