Day 3
Let’s see if I can sum this up in a couple of posts.
Absolute insane competition. Fast paced racing. Constant chaos with fans moving around to see action, crossing the course, and athletes in various stages of the course. 5 days events, 4 days of competition. Venue was super interesting and sort of grungy but very dark so I played with low light as much as I could with flash, longer exposures, and just seeing how much I could push my ISO (although I was hesitant at first). Learned more about noise reduction during this assignment for sure.
Live streamed events meant stay back a bit and do your best. The rest of the competition I had really fun access.
At one point I saw an athlete pause, look around, kiss his necklace, and I have to say I completely understood the thankfulness he felt. Running on such little sleep but just so grateful every moment. Such a fun team and culture administering the competition. It is surreal being added to a team and getting fron...
