A 67-year-old man has been indicted on charges of attempted murder and arson after he set fire to a packed subway carriage in Seoul, South Korea, on May 31.
Investigators said the suspect was allegedly driven by delusions over a divorce ruling. He meticulously planned the attack by purchasing gasoline, disposing of his assets, and scouting major subway stations the day before.
Six people were injured in the incident, though no fatalities were reported. The incident is among the most serious subway-related attacks in South Korea since a 2003 fire in Daegu that killed 192 people and led to sweeping safety improvements.
