Growing up D/deaf or hard of hearing, I didn’t just miss sounds—I missed chunks of information. 
Words I misheard. Concepts that flew over my head. Unspoken rules I didn’t even know existed. This is what many of us in the DHH community call the Swiss Cheese Effect: our learning and understanding can have holes—not because we’re not capable, but because we didn’t have consistent access to all the pieces. ✨ This one’s for every kid who didn’t know what “eavesdropping” meant until high school.
