❌ STOP playing sessions where you have to finish with one touch.
What happens if a child does a brilliant job, pressing the goalkeeper? They put in so much effort to close the GK down, and they manage to tackle them and win it back! They’re 5 yards out with an open goal to tap it in, but they’ve already had two touches.
What do you want them to do? Turn around and pass to someone else when they could just score themselves?
Restricting touches can make your games unrealistic.
So, what can you do instead?
If you want children to take quicker shots, maybe you’re working on finishing inside the box and want them to practice a one-touch finish, play a match and reward them for using one touch by giving them three goals for each one-touch finish, rather than just one. Let them score normally, too!
Imagine if a child takes on the whole team and rounds the goalie, but they can’t score the Maradona-esque wonder goal because you’ve got a one-touch limit set!
