Defining Success: Doing Well and Doing Good
I was honored to be named forbesunder30 when I was 17, but even before that, my definition of success was always a dynamic entity. Initially, success was simply winning. Then, I recategorized it as one’s capacity to enjoy the process - to revel in the mundane and the adverse. After the Beijing 2022 Olympics, I expanded my understanding even further. I witnessed, firsthand, the explosive growth of freeskiing in China and worldwide, and learned it is essential to marry the notions of doing well and doing good. To do well is to achieve a goal. Don’t get me wrong - anyone who knows me knows I love winning like none other. BUT, *only* doing well just means less space in the trophy case. To do GOOD, on the other hand, is to leverage existing platforms and previous successes for broader impact, and to contribute to a movement. B...
