Warren Buffett, one of the greatest investors of all time, once had a crippling fear of public speaking. At 20, he avoided any class that required presentations. Just the thought of speaking in front of others made him physically sick — he’d literally throw up. Buffett tried to sign up for a Dale Carnegie public speaking course while at Columbia Business School, but backed out. “I just couldn’t do it. I was that terrified,” he said. But after graduating, he saw the same ad — and this time, he paid $100 in cash so he couldn’t back out. That move changed everything. He said nearly everyone in the class struggled to even say their own name. But after 12 weeks, Buffett was confident enough to apply for a teaching job at the University of Omaha — just to keep practicing. “I just kept doing it. Now you can’t stop me from talking,” he joked. Buffett still credits that public speaking course as one of the best investments he ever made — and that’s saying a lot for a man worth over $150 billion...
