REVIEW: The 1975, Glastonbury 2025 This is how it starts… Ornate piano and strings rise as black and white screens burst into ‘Happiness’, the first names of the four men at the centre of tonight’s festivities adorning the backdrop as frontman Matty Healy is incapable of hiding his obvious glee as he glides along a stage front travelator. Who could begrudge The 1975 the opportunity to truly relish in this moment? It has taken more than two decades for them to reach the highest peak of this particular Pyramid and as the infectiously catchy ‘If You’re Too Shy…’ leads into a spiky ‘Love Me’ and serotonin laced ‘She’s American’, it would appear that they intend to embark upon a hits filled victory lap. But this is a band that thrives in beautiful, complex contradiction, upending expectations at every turn.
