Democratic lawmakers are pressing Palantir for answers amid reports it may be helping the Trump administration build a centralized “mega database” on Americans.
In a letter to Palantir CEO Alex Karp, lawmakers including Sen. Ron Wyden and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez warn that such a database could violate multiple federal privacy laws.
Their concerns stem from a recent New York Times report that Palantir’s Foundry software is being quietly deployed across federal agencies like the IRS and Social Security Administration. Lawmakers argue this could enable the White House to consolidate vast troves of personal data into a single, searchable system.
Palantir has denied those claims in a blog post but lawmakers remain unconvinced.
The lawmakers are asking Palantir to respond to its questions by July 10.
