Meta has added a warning to its Meta AI app after users unknowingly shared private chats to the public Discover feed.
The new pop-up now alerts users that anything posted is public and may be featured across other Meta platforms — with a reminder to avoid sharing sensitive info.
The change comes after reports of users accidentally uploading personal conversations, including medical and tax records, to the feed. Until now, hitting "Share > Post" sent your AI chats straight to Discover — with no indication that they’d be visible to everyone.
Tech investors and privacy advocates sounded the alarm, calling out Meta for failing to explain the feature clearly. The app's Share button looked like it was meant for friends — not a public broadcast.
If you’ve posted something by mistake, you can still delete it. Tap the three dots on the post, or head to your profile > Data & Privacy to make all your prompts private or wipe them completely.
