After decades of learning to embrace his truth and finding a community that accepts him, Kaiden Huntrods said this was the first Pride Month that felt like a celebration of "being with my authentic self" since getting top surgery in February. But Huntrods said he now fears pursuing tasks such as getting a job and an apartment in the wake of Iowa's new law removing civil rights protections for trans Iowans. The law eliminating gender identity as a protected class from the Iowa Civil Rights Act took effect Tuesday, July 1.
