Humphrey Bogart as Rick Blaine in Casablanca (1942).
I had a lot to get through... I somehow lost time for one of the biggest controversies. People suggest that the buttons on the dinner jacket are actually plastic! That kind of makes sense, not a lot of natural materials look great against ivory, but couldn't they just use covered buttons? It's a dinner jacket.
Despite all the little imperfections--and yeah, there are a lot--the outfit comes together beautifully. It *feels* like something his character would wear, and helps set the tone for the film. It makes the character feel smooth, suave, competent, *on*...
Also... listen very carefully: do *not* DM Adam Mosseri begging him to give me 180 second reels, that would be annoying. Just drop it, okay?
