Diego Luna has been locked in with the USMNT forever, and that’s why these Gold Cup moments mean so much to him, he’s leaving it all on the pitch 💯
In 2022, the now USMNT star opened up about the rivalry with Mexico and why he chose to represent the U.S., saying:
“When I was little, we would always have people come over and watch the game. The rivalry is a big thing, and I would always have my USA jersey on. I would cry when Mexico scored on us and I would tear up, and I was going around telling people to stop cheering, because half my family would cheer for Mexico and half my family cheered for USA. I have respect and I love Mexico and I love being Mexican, but I grew up in the United States … so it’s only right to play for the country that raised me to who I am.” 🇺🇸
Now he’s set to face Mexico in the Gold Cup Final, and we’ve got a feeling he’s about to put on a SHOW 🍿
