Colorado has over 61,000 registered nurses, but high patient numbers, a lack of support in the workplace and high cost of living have created burnout for many of them, according to a recent nationwide analysis and local nursing groups. Mark Longshore, executive director of the Colorado Nurses Association, began teaching nurses after a career as an emergency department nurse.
