📣 Greater Memphis Chamber Hosts Public Q&A on xAI Turbine Approval Today, the Greater Memphis Chamber held a live Q&A to address why the Shelby County Health Department approved permits for xAI’s natural‑gas turbines powering the new Colossus data center in Memphis. 🏭 • 15 permanent turbines received permits as backup emergency power, equipped with SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction)—bringing NOₓ levels down to just 2 ppm, over 90% below EPA limits . • The Chamber emphasized the decision was grounded in scientific review and a commitment to both economic growth and environmental responsibility . • The turbines will only activate during emergencies and are supplemented by xAI’s battery storage and planned substations .
