1. Provide a warm welcome!
A great session starts with great energy.
Greet every child with a smile, a high five, and a simple question about their day or week. This builds connection, trust, and a sense of belonging.
When children feel seen and valued from the moment they arrive, they are far more likely to engage positively and confidently throughout the session.
2. Get the children playing immediately!
The first few minutes set the tone. Avoid lines, long explanations, or standing still. Instead, have your session set up before the first child arrives so they can get straight into the action.
Arrival matches, small games, or individual ball challenges work brilliantly. The key is to maximise ball-rolling time right from the start and show the children that this is a place to play and have fun!
