It’s a scary thing to be called back for an ultrasound or MRI after a mammogram. And cost can be a big deterrent in getting a second scan when something doesn't look right.
A bill proposed last year at the Iowa Legislature would have ensured Iowans, particularly women — who face a one-in-eight chance of developing breast cancer over their lifetimes — don’t have to pay extra for those second scans.
Or so some supporters thought.
