What happens when we move design history away from an art historical lens and toward a cultural studies lens featuring politics, labor, and social context? This question and more were explored in the New Directions in Design History Symposium organized and hosted by Associate Professor Aggie Toppins. The symposium, sponsored by the Sam Fox School and WashU Libraries, brought together nationally renowned designers, historians, and visual culture scholars to discuss critical issues at the intersections of design history and practice.
